How to Download Music/Video from Tumblr

Though there are many Tumblr Music Widgets out there that allow you to create a playlist and put it in your Tumblelog, sometimes you find individual tracks in a music post that you want to keep to listen to later. This tutorial tells you how to download music from Tumblr for free, and it only applies to tracks, songs and mp3s uploaded using the Tumblr music player, also you must have the latest Firefox or Chrome version installed. Trust us. It really is worth using Firefox as your browser of choice either on a Mac or PC. It’s fast.

How to Download Music from Tumblr for Free with Firefox:

Download the greasemonkey add-on here. This addon allows you install scripts to add stuff to web pages. After you install it, restart Firefox.
Now in order to get the full Tumblr songs, you need to download the script Tumtaster. Restart Firefox after that.
Tumtaster basically creates download links below each Tumblr music track so you can save them to your PC. (Check picture below)

How to Download Music from Tumblr for Free with Chrome:

Download ChromeTaster, which comes from the same creator of Tumtaster, install it and restart Chrome. This plugin in particular allows you to create playlists from Tumblr music as well.

With the help of some Firefox addons, or Chrome plugins, you will be able to download and rip any video clip from any Tumblr Blog you want. You can download Tumblr Videos, Youtube media and Vimeo clips as well.

When you follow a large group of people it is difficult to watch all posted videos at one time, and if you truly like one, you sure want to keep it and save it to enjoy later. Downloading videos from Tumblr is easy when you just have a YouTube or Vimeo video, since there are some many free online downloaders outhere, but when it comes to video clips or other type of media uploaded to Tumblr itself, it’s a bit more complicated. To get all the videos you want, you need to have Firefox installed along with an Addon called VideoDownloadHelper.

How to Download Videos from Tumblr:

Get the Addon right here. After the installation restart Firefox.
Be sure to select the specific post in order to get the Tumblr Video. (find the permalink first). If the feed or Tumblelog is full of media, you might just get a bunch of links and be difficult to find the right one for the clip.
Start playing the video (doesn’t matter if it comes from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe Vimeo or Tumblr itself)
You will see that DownloadHelper Icon will start moving (located right next to the address bar).
Click on the Dropdown Menu on the right side of the icon, If you are positioned in the post itself you will probably see just one link, click on it and download it.
You will probably get an mp4 format. I recomment using VLC Media Player.
